The Importance of Faith

We approach God’s Word and pray that the Holy Spirit, will open our lives to encounter the Living Christ. Join me in a moment of prayer.

Heavenly Father, we gather this morning with those who love You, that we might sing Your praises and share Your love with one another. You have shown Your faithfulness to us every day through your written Word and in the lives of faithful Christians. So we gather today to learn from Scripture and this faith community. Help us to entrust our lives to You and Your purposes as we pray in the Name of Jesus Christ, through power of Your Spirit. Amen.

THE FIRST SCRIPTURE                                                     Psalm 138                               Thanksgiving and Praise      A Psalm of David

I give thee thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart; before the gods I sing thy praise; I bow down toward thy holy temple and give thanks to thy name for thy steadfast love and thy faithfulness; for thou hast exalted above everything thy name and thy word.

On the day I called, thou didst answer me, my strength of soul thou didst increase.  All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O Lord, for they have heard the words of thy mouth; and they shall sing of the ways of the Lord, for great is the glory of the Lord.

For though the Lord is high, he regards the lowly; but the haughty he knows from afar. Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou dost preserve my life; thou dost stretch out thy hand against the wrath of my enemies, and thy right hand delivers me.

The Lord will fulfil his purpose for me; thy steadfast love, O Lord, endures for ever. Do not forsake the work of thy hands

May the Lord bless this Holy Word to our understanding.

TIME WITH GOD’S CHILDREN#653 “I Will Call Upon the Lord”

SECOND SCRIPTURE READING            2 Corinthians 4:13-5:1                   Living by Faith

Since we have the same spirit of faith as he had who wrote, “I believed, and so I spoke,” we too believe, and so we speak, knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence. For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed every day. For this slight momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, because we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

This is the Word of the Lord.  Thanks be to God!
